model in focus: Bambi

If you haven’t heard the name or seen the face of Bambi Northwood-Blyth you have been living under a rock, seriously.  This eighteen-year-old fresh face of Australian modelling has literally been converting every editorial spread, runway and advertising campaign she can say ‘yes’ to since appearing on our radar in the blink of an eye.

Melbourne bred, Bambi’s real name is actually Stephanie but goes by ‘Bambi’, which I think suits her baby doll face much better.   Signed to Priscillas Model Agency Bambi stands at only 5’7”, which in modelling terms is quite short, however, this has not stopped her from rising to the ranks.  Bambi is nothing short of average with her amazing features she is being likened to that of supermodel Kate Moss and Brooke Shields.
Those sea green eyes, and distinctive eyebrows are the reason everyone is so obsessed with her unique and irreplaceable look.  She is unlike anything we have seen in a long, long time and it’s so refreshing to see an upcoming model with such a fresh face.  Recently walking for nearly every show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week she is not your regular beyond tall model, her catwalk strut is less strut and more bouncy, I-am-so-young-and-free.  More recently, she has appeared in Grazia Australia, Russh, Oyster and starred on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar The rise of the Australian Supermodel issue along with fellow models Georgia Fowler, Juliana Forge, Meg Lindsay and Stephanie Cherry.  Bambi is also the face of the latest fashion collaboration for chain store Sportsgirl with cool Aussie fashion label Aje and stars in the spring catalogue for Myer with Australia’s Next Top Model 2009 runner-up Cassie Van Den Dungen.
The thing about Bambi is she portrays a childlike innocence, yet, in a split second can transform from a rock and roll goddess to a free loving hippy.  This is why she is currently the cream of Australian local talent.  I can’t exactly pin point the exact moment I first saw this rare beauty but I’m glad I did as I think she will be cemented as one of the biggest influences in the Australian fashion scene for 2010 and set the benchmark for new generation of talented Australian models.  By letting her personality shine through both on and off the runway Bambi has become the name on everyone’s lips.  No matter if you love the eyebrows or hate them you can’t deny she is something amazing, similar to that of a work of art.
